Staveley Village Christmas Tree Secured Thanks to Local Generosity
For decades, the village of Staveley has been brought together each December by the sight of its much-loved Christmas tree — a symbol of community spirit and festive cheer. Traditionally, the tree has been kindly donated by local residents or businesses, each year representing the goodwill that makes Staveley special.
This year, however, securing a tree proved more challenging. With no donor immediately available, the Staveley Village Association (SVA) reached out to the community, inviting ideas and offers of support to ensure the tradition could continue. The response from residents was heartwarming, with several villagers offering trees from their own gardens, and even one regular visitor volunteering to go door-to-door to collect £1 donations to help fund a tree.
After much discussion, the SVA is delighted to announce that the 2025 Staveley Village Christmas Tree has been generously donated by Kippers Campsite and Shepherd’s Hut at Ings, with JJ Coupland and Son kindly offering their time and equipment to help retrieve and deliver it to the village.
Looking ahead, the SVA has an exciting long-term plan. In 2026, the village hopes to plant a permanent Christmas tree in the Playground, creating a safe and central space for the annual Staveley Christmas Light Switch-On and festive gatherings. To make this possible, the SVA will be inviting all residents and holiday homes to contribute just £1 towards this lasting addition, a tree that will grow year by year, lighting up the heart of Staveley for generations to come.
A crowd funding page will be set up to reach a target of £600.
